Five for Friday!

WAHOO!  It is FRIDAY!  HAPPY SPRING BREAK TO MEEE!  Is it your Spring Break?   I am linking up with Kacey at Doodle Bugs Teaching!

1.  It's Good Friday, so we start our spring break today!   Phew!  It's much needed for myself, my co-workers and the kiddos!  Too bad our weather in Wisconsin isn't treating us especially Springy...but I will take the 40's!!

2.  We went on an Easter Egg hunt yesterday in our classroom.  Students all had to find an Easter Egg which was filled with jelly beans!  Then, they had to graph and add their jelly beans!  They loved it!!  I used Deanna Jump's St. Patrick's Day unit for this activity!

3.  I got a VERY surprising brochure in my mailbox earlier, check it out!   I love her units, so I cannot wait to go to this conference in October!  Anyone else heading out to Neenah in October?

4.   Marquette University won last night and we are off to the Elite 8!  I did not have them going this far in my March Madness bracket but who cares!! I love Wisconsin Sports, and it's so exciting to have them going this far!  Go Marquette!  Tune in tomorrow (Saturday) at 3:00 to see them play Indiana!

5.   I love a good FREEBIE!  Especially clip art and backgrounds, and Ashley make ADORABLE clip art and backgrounds!!  She just posted these guys!  Super cute, and FREE!

I was searching for the best way to share with my kiddos word families... thinking and thinking and I came across Prezi!  I totally forgot about this great tool to use in the classroom.  You could share this video with parents as a review, or show it to your kiddos during whole group!

Technology Tuesday!

I am here to push Class Dojo a little bit more!!  I absolutely LOVE this website!!  

It helps my students to take control of their day.  At my school we are not big on clip charts for behaviors, simply because we do not want students to do the "walk of shame" to move their clip down....  so then came in class dojo!  You can check it out here.  I love this video, it's so cute!

I pair up my class dojo with my Whole Brain Teaching and their Super Improvers wall.  So for every 10 points the students earn the get to move their card up on the super improvers wall.  

Each level they move up is called something like Beginner, Team Captain, Wiz Kid, etc. they are also color coded.  Here is an example of a wall by Little Minds at Work.  I used her level named cards, and instead of stickers, use classdojo!!

 They take their index card down, switch it with their new one, glue their old one to a CONGRATULATIONS sheet, and they get to take that home to show off!   Wahoo!

 It's working so smoothly...  Teaching assistant, special education teachers, speech teachers can all hop on and give points to the students.  I always have Class Dojo on my smartboard so they can tap the students name and give them points for great behavior!!  

Also: you can print weekly reports, or send out a e-mail blast to the parents to share their progress!!

Peek at my Week and New Product!

Hello Sunday!  Happy you are here!  I have a 4 day week coming up, and then Spring Break!  Are you on break already?  I live in Wisconsin, so there is nothing screaming "spring" outside, but in our hearts we are dying for some springy weather!  So I put together this spring write the room!  My kiddos LOVE these!  They are so excited to go to this center.

This product is only $2.00, and I would be happy to add or change any graphics you are looking to have!  The first 6 cards are spring themed words, and cards 7-18 are CVC + words for the kiddos to practice sounding out words....
