Math Centers = Love! + FREEBIE!!

We are having a great time with our new Loving Differentiated Math Stations Galore math centers from Marsha @ Differentiated Kindergarten!  She put a TON of work into it, and my kids just love it.  It is so easy to implement and work with the right tier groups to meet their needs...

Throwback Thursday!

I am going old school today....  I love seeing pictures of friends from way back when for Throwback Thursday's, but how about a linky party for a great classroom style Throwback Thursday?!

Post an old school picture of you, or family....  or a old school throwback post about something you haven't seen in a while on your blog.

Here is my throwback photo:
My now husband and I the day we fell "in-love" back in 2005...
to be young again :)
still just as in love though!

And my throwback classroom post

I loved using these file folders for making words.  I didn't have to fumble with magnetic letters, finding the letters, putting them away, making sure everyone had enough..

So what's your throwback Thursday you want to share?!  Link up here!  MY FIRST EVER LINKY PARTY!!  WHOO HOOO!!!!

Five for Friday {1-23-14}

Five for Friday is a weekly teacher linky party where you post five random things from today or this past week and on your blog.

http://doodlebugsteaching.blogspot.com/

1.  this week ended second quarter (p.s. I was just writing third quarter and had to erase that, whoa brain slooow it down...) anywho 2nd quarter included TONS of testing.  Does anyone else have the crazy one on one kinder testing world in their classroom?  We use ESGI - which I LOVE here are a couple screen shots:

I can edit my own tests....make them to CCSS...etc.... I can also see pie charts, and untested students... it's a great way to test students and see result without shuffling through papers!

2.  With that - report cards, ugh so much do!  What do you report cards look like?  We have 4 quarters with 43 letter grades (NP, E, P, S).... AHHH!!!

3.  It is COLD.   Living in Wisconsin is normally cold, but this weather is just sad.  I feel like I am a bear in hibernation, I swear!

4.  Love reading Smedly's blog!! I seriously wish I could do half as much as he does, I do not know how he does it!!

# recognition, subtraction, and freebie!

Every time I see 2014, I am like, whaa?  Where did 2013 go!  SO FAST!  Still cannot believe this school year is half over already.... it's flown by!  But I also think I say that every year, don't you?

With that said, my kiddos loved this little activity of number recognition.  The best part is (shhh!) they didn't even know they were learning!   I gave each of them a mini post it note with a number 11-30 on it.  I told them I am no longer Mrs. Schultz, then I turned around, and presented.... Mrs. 24!  Yes!  The kiddos giggled so much, I knew they would looove this.  I gave them their numbered post-it notes, and told them to lean and tell their partners their numbers, after that stand up, and put your "name number tag" on.  Then we would walk around the room and met our NEW classmates....

"Hi Mrs. 14!" shaking hands with another student, "Hey Mr. 19!"  and then they would walk partner to partner meeting new friends....

Then I said FREEEEZE!!!  Students would freeze, switch the post its with the person they are closest to, and go around and meet their brand new friends again!  A quick, fun movement activity!    They asked me to play it 4 more times already!!

We studied penguins last week, in honor I made a color by sight word penguin!

Then we wrote about one new thing we learned about deer.

Tuesday
We went on National Geographic to learn about "caribou".  I love saying that name, doesn't is sound fancy!?
